Create the adverts (U20: P4, M3)

Learning Outcome 3 (U20):  Be able to produce the planned media components

P4(U20): Create production materials to be used in the original media product

Billboard Advert:

Below is the billboard advert which has been created for the PhizzWizzard Campaign.  A billboard campaign is said to be above the line advertising and advantages to this are that it creates brand awareness and targets a wider span of audiences.  Therefore by printing on a billboard it aims to target both 13-18-year-olds and 25-35-year-olds.  The decision to print our campaign onto a billboard was due to the bright colours throughout the advert allowing the billboard to stand out.

Audience Feedback:

The feedback which I have been given in regards to the billboard advertising campaign was both positive and negative.  It was said that the colours of the can against the blue background grab the audience's attention, as well as layout.  By placing the bubbles in the background and having a concentrated effect with more bubbles on the left under the slogan fading out to the right, draws our attention to the PhizzWizzard slogan.  Furthermore, another aspect of the billboard campaign which the audience liked was the correlation between the bubbles and the drink, as they immediately identified the bubbles representing the fizziness of the drink which was links to ‘PhizzWizzard’.  On the other hand, some negatives aspects the audience didn’t like about the billboard campaign was that they were unable to identify the red lines around the can being strawberry laces and needed an explanation to see this.  In addition to that, this was the same with the Wizard hat placed on top of the can, they thought that the hat should have a more specific link to wizards, as there weren’t any other direct links with wizards in the campaign apart from the name of the drink.  They also suggested that there should be a website link or number to contact at the bottom of the campaign so the specific target audience is able to immediately find the drink.

Social Media Advert:

The social media advert is below and also involves the Where is Wizard idea.  By using social media such as Instagram for the PhizzWizzard campaign, it is attracting the younger audiences.

Magazine Advert:

By advertising PhizzWizzard onto a magazine this provides the campaign with extra marketing opportunities, it allows a wider target audience to view our campaign.  In addition by printing in a magazine, it allows the colours to be printed at high resolution giving greater visual impact.

Audience Feedback:

The audience feedback which I was given about the magazine advert provided me with some positive aspects one being the pastel colours complimenting each another, as the pastel pink and blue create a harmonising aura to the image.  In addition to that, another positive aspect to this magazine campaign was the consistency between this magazine and billboard advert, the colour blue was kept constant as the pastel blue stayed both the background colour for both adverts which linked the campaigns together.  Continuity was also achieved with the bubbles as they were incorporated in the magazine advert as they appeared on the top right-hand side.  On the other hand, at first sight, it was said that you are unable to see the objective of the can, therefore you don’t specifically know that they need to find the wizard which is hidden within the can.  In addition, you can't specifically see what the pink and black writing says, as the black writing is too small and without being able to see you aren’t aware that you need to find the wizard.  As a result, it doesn’t provide the magazine advert with its own unique selling point which was the aim.

Video Advert:

The video advert brings about a comical aspect to the PhizzWizzard campaign.  The advert incorporates the ideas from the client brief into the advert to aim to persuade the audience to buy the canned drink.

Audience Feedback:

The final outcome of the video advert produced both positive and negative aspects towards it.  One positive aspect of the advert was the choice of music.  The song that was chosen was ‘Lovely Day’ by Bill Withers. Therefore created an upbeat and positive advert for the audience, due to this iconic song.  As well as that the volume of the music phased out when the actors were speaking which created a professional look, as they were able to hear both the music and the actors.  In addition, another positive aspect of the video advert was the editing.  Within the advert, there were different shots, which had a transformation into one another.  On the other hand, one negative aspect of the video was how the shots were out of focus.  In some shots the camera was too close to the object, therefore resulted in the shot being out of focus.  Which confused the viewer.  Lastly, the last negative, was how the shots were too long, which resulted in the viewer loosing interest.  Therefore the shot should have been shorter and cut, after a few seconds.

M3(U20): Create production material that follows the codes and conventions of the chosen genre for the media product

Billboard:

Convention's are the ways of contracting form and informing meaning in media products.  The codes and conventions that are involved within the billboard campaign, would firstly be the colour of the can.  The choice of using the colour red appears to be striking and prominent.  This is an important convention for a billboard campaign as therefore would likely be able to catch the audience's attention, whilst they are quickly driving past.  Billboard campaigns are usually placed on the side of main roads allowing a wide range of audiences being able to view the advert, therefore the colours used within the billboard campaign have to be noticeable.  As a result of this by choosing the colour red not only does it link into the client brief but also grabs the audience's attention.  Furthermore, another convention used within the magazine advert is the wizard hat placed on top of the PhizzWizzard can, by incorporating the wizard hat, the theme of magic is introduced within the campaign, which creates a magical element that is portrayed onto the audience.  The last convention within the PhizzWizzard billboard campaign is the concentrated bubbles in the background, by placing bubbles in the background links into the slogan of “The Power Of The Phizz”.  Therefore, by incorporating a large variety of bubbles in the background, it could be said to link into the audiences childhood innocence, as bubbles create a magical element to the audience and therefore links to the campaign.

Magazine Advert:

There are multiple codes and conventions within the production material of a magazine advert.  The first convention within the advert would be the title.  The title is chosen to be in the colour red, which said before is striking and obvious.  Therefore, choosing this colour for the title aims to grab the audience's attention whilst they are flicking through the pages of the magazine.  This is also done due to the large size of the font.  In addition, the title is underlined in a swirl, which represents the strawberry liquorice taste of the PhizzWizzard drink, which takes up nearly the whole width of the page.  Another convention within the magazine advert is the colours within the ‘Where is Wizard’ can. The multiple colours such as pink, orange and blue all contrast against one another.  Primary due to the colours blue and orange contrasting one another, it allows the audience to simply distinguish the objects from one another.  This is important as the objects within the magazine advert are small such as the Wizard, and the target audiences need to be able to distinguish one from another.  Furthermore, by incorporating contrasting colours within the magazine advert, it guides the attention of viewers towards the campaign.

Video Advert:

Conventions create an emotional response as they create a bond with the audience when selling your product.  The first convention within the video advert is the usage of special effect such as magical music.  This takes place when the girl turns into a wizard in mid-air.  In the middle of the advert.  This sound effect resembles the magic you feel when drinking PhizzWizzard.  By this taking place, it allows the advert to incorporate a magical theme, which would target the younger audience, such as 13-18 year-olds.  Another convention, within the video advert, is the voice-over towards the end of the advert.  It mentions the slogan “PhizzWizzard, feel the Phizz’, by including the slogan at the end, it promotes the drink,, and allows the drink to become memorable.  As well as creating a sense of brand identity.  The last few seconds of the video advert showcases Facebook, Twitter and Instagrams logo’s, as well as the Carter Soft Drinks logo.  By this taking place, it promotes both the business, and drink at the same time.  PhizzWizzard is now able to promote its product on these platforms, which creates a wider surface area for the business’s platform.
