A simple definition of etiquette is described to be the customary code of polite behavior among members of other professions. Within the media industry etiquette is referred to as the guidelines in which companies and individuals use to preserve their reputations.  By showing a level of etiquette you are able to conduct yourself around customers, employees, and peers.  Within a workforce, etiquette creates a professional and respectful atmosphere.

One way in which this would apply to a Digital Media Manager is through their behavior and conduct.  A Digital Media Manager would show a level of etiquette primarily due to being polite to their co-workers of a lower hierarchy spectrum to them.  As a Digital Media Manager has more responsibility and authority, they must show a level of the protocol to other employees with less authority.  Not only would this create a positive work environment, but also improve their work ethics in the future.

Within the job role of a Digital Media Manager, they should show a level of kindness and authority. The roles above a Digital Media Manager would be the CEO of the company as well as the line manager.  As a result of this, the Digital Media Manager should show a level of etiquette to risk being fired.  Showing a level of etiquette as well as devotion, approachability, and report.  If the Digital Media Manager does not show these characteristics when working and showing a level of rapport as they may be fined or given less authority.  As there are other job roles above you with more authority by showing politeness, as well as making the working environment a happier environment.

Another reason how the importance of etiquette is involved in the job role of a digital media manager is that even though the role of a digital media manager has a large amount of responsibility, there are job roles with less authority.  Etiquette links into this due to setting a good example for employees such as helpers and apprenticeships.  Therefore digital media managers should be setting an example for those employees.

To conclude, etiquette links into the job role of a digital media manager in many ways even though they have a large amount of authority.
